MEET HEATHER

Heather Fangman, MS Ed., LCMHC, is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in private practice in Matthews, NC. She graduated from Miami University in 1990 with a BA in psychology and completed her masters degree in community counseling in 1996 at Youngstown State University. In addition to private practice and community mental health, Heather has worked in community based social work, therapeutic foster care case management, academic coaching, and labor support and childbirth education. She trained as a birth doula with Penny Simkin at the Seattle Midwifery School and studied midwifery at the Midwives College of Utah.

As a former midwifery student, doula and childbirth educator, helping mothers and families around perinatal mental health, birth trauma and postpartum adjustment is very important to Heather. In providing support, information, therapeutic intervention and connection to community resources, her goal is to walk with mothers and families through a difficult transition and find their balance and strength again. She also provides support to birth workers who may carry their own birth related trauma.
